拍品描述
Thailand, Sukhothai province, 15th-16th century. Of globular form, gently tapering toward a flat base and rising to a short, flanged neck with a narrow, circular mouth. The shoulder applied with a finely modeled elephant head in high relief, the short trunk curling slightly upward, flanked by a pair of pointed tusks, prominent eyes, and small ears. On the reverse, the tail of the animal curves gracefully upward to the right. The exterior coated in a translucent celadon glaze, which pools attractively and stops neatly above the foot, revealing the underlying buff-colored ceramic.Provenance: From The Sam and Myrna Myers Collection, Paris, France.
