China, 15th century. The compressed globular body is supported on three flaring feet molded with taotie masks, rising to two stylized mask handles in high relief on either side. The piece is overall covered with a rich sea-green glaze, thinning slightly over the rim.Provenance: The Collection of Sam and Myrna Myers, Paris, France. According to the Myers ledger, acquired on 21 February 1977 in New York and in the collection since 49 years.Condition: Good condition with old wear and firing flaws, including firing cracks, few dark spots, intentional crackling and small chips to the feet. A small repair to one foot. Presenting very well.Weight: 538 g Dimensions: Height 8.2 cm, Diameter 14 cmLiterature comparison:Compare a related Longquan celadon incense burner, dated to the 15th century, 15 cm (diameter), in the Kyoto National Museum, museum number GK473.
