Description

A PAIR OF GILT SILVER FILIGREE ‘DRAGON’ EARRINGS, QING DYNASTY

China, 1644–1912. Each of C-shape, terminating in a large dragon head with powerful jaws, curling mane, and prominent horns. The bulbous heads and flexible bodies are composed of finely textured filigree mesh evoking the dragon’s scaly body, and conclude in the broadened section of the flaming tail. (2)

Provenance: From a private collection in the United Kingdom.
Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, traces of use and manufacturing irregularities. Light warping, few minute dents, and minor losses to gilt.

Weight: 8.9 g (total)
Dimensions: Height 4.3 cm and 4.5 cm
