Description

A FINE BLUE GROUND KESI ‘TERRACED GARDEN’ PANEL, EARLY QING DYNASTY

China, 17th-18th century. The rectangular panel is finely woven with courtiers standing in a garden set with pavilions, rockwork, and a willow, all on blue ground and lined with misty clouds in the sky. Mounted and framed.

Provenance: Ben Janssens Oriental Art, London. Ben Janssens opened his eponymous gallery in 1996 in London, specializing in early Chinese art. Previously he had been a director at Spink & Son. He also served as the Chairman of the Executive Committee of TEFAF Maastricht.
Condition: Very good condition with minor wear, few loose threads, and minor staining.
