A Chinese bronze tripod ding and cover

拍品描述
The rounded vessel is decorated in low relief with bands of archaic scrolls, with two upright u-shaped handles to the neck and standing on three cabriole feet. The domed cover is similarly decorated and is surmounted with three circular knops. Provenance: With C. Kools, Amsterdam, acquired from an antique dealer in Hong Kong in 1991. Catalogue notes: Compare a similar ding dated to the 5th century B.C. sold at Christie's New York, 21-22 March 2013, lots 1237, and two further ding and covers sold in the same sale as lot 1130. Compare also a ding in the Arthur M. Sackler collection illustrated in J. So in Eastern Zhou Ritual Bronzes from the Arthur M. Sackler Collections, 1995, pp. 158-9, no. 20. Condition: The exterior has been cleaned. A few minor casting flaws. Verdigris and encrustation to the interior. Origin: China Period: Spring and Autumn period (8th-5th Century B.C.) Sizes: 18.00 cm.
