Circa 1879 Ink and color on paper, thirty-four pages, illustrating the route from the Forbidden City to the mausoleums of Emperor Tongzhi (r. 1861-1875) and Empress Xiaozheyi (1854-1875), several of the locations annotated with tipped in yellow paper sheets, string-bound with a blue paper cover, and fitted cloth box. 5 3/8 x 3 3/8in (13.7 x 8.5cm)

This charming example of a map, tracing the route from the Imperial tombs to the Forbidden City is referred to a "Kerchief box"-form book, due to its diminutive size. The National Palace Museum Taipei devoted a special exhibition to this type of book: Books in the Palm of Your Hand, Kerchief-box editions in the National Palace Museum Collection, 23 December 2018- 10 March 2019.
