Chen Rentao (Chen Jen Dao, 1906-1968) was born into a banking family in Zhejiang, and moved to Hong Kong in 1946. He was a major collector of Chinese art, including antiquities, paintings and coins. His collection King Kwei Studio was named after an antique coin that he treasured. Chen Rentao also edited Jingui lungu chuji 金匱論古初集in 1952 and in 1956 authored Jingui canghua pingshi金匱藏畫評釋 . Important classical paintings from his collection are now at the British Museum, Metropolitan Museum of Art, and Princeton Museum of Art, among other institutions.
