Description

Seated in meditation on a high throne of two playful lotus petals wreaths, he holds his hands at his chest in bodhyagri mudra, symbolizing the highest realization. Depicted in the sambhogakaya form, he is adorned with fabulous jewels, wearing a large crown with a makara at the center as well as a high chignon topped with a jewel. The flying shawl frames him, creating a symbolic mandorla. Details of the clothes, along with his eyes and lips, are inlaid in silver and copper. The hair with remains of blue pigment. Baseplate. closed bottom - was not practiced among newar buddhist and kashmir inlays of precious stones not before 12th century characteristicly poorly worked/plane backside for the early period small accent silver and copper inlays only from 12th and latest to 16th century, tradition from Kashmir and India late Pala Empire influence
