A RINPA-STYLE INLAID THREE-CASE GOLD LACQUER INRO WITH PRUNUS BLOSSOMS

Style of Ogata Korin (1658-1716), inscribed Seisei Korin zo with kakihan
Japan, 17th-18th century, Edo period (1615-1868)

Bearing a fine kinji ground sparsely sprinkled with gold and black flakes, inlaid with mitsuda (pewter) and aogai, with details in gold hiramaki-e, depicting gnarled prunus branches issuing iridescent blossoms. The interior of kinji, the top case inscribed to the interior Seisei KORIN zo with a kakihan.

With a globular lacquer ojime and a 17th-century netsuke carved as a sage seated on an ox.

HEIGHT 6 cm, LENGTH 5.1 cm

Condition: Good condition with wear, minor rubbing, minute nibbles around cord holes. The netsuke with natural age cracks, minor losses, the horns restored.
