Koami Choin (Nagamoto), also known as Koami Choshu (Nagachika), was the 16th Koami master who worked through the 18th to 19th century. The Koami artists belong to one of the most famous dynasties of Japanese lacquerers, starting in 1429. The family worked extensively at the court and the shogunate until well into the 19th century and had considerable influence on the development of lacquer art through its leadership. Later members of the family used designs after the Kano-school painters. See Earle, Joe [ed.] (1995) The Index of Inro Artists, p. 133.
