拍品描述
A BRONZE FIGURE OF A GUARDIAN, QING DYNASTY

China, 1644-1912, c. mid-17th to 18th century. Cast standing with a proud chest, dressed in a long flowing tunic, trousers, and heavy boots, adorned with jewelry and billowing sashes. His grim expression features bulging eyes, furrowed brows, and slender lips curved into a frown. His neatly incised hair is pulled into a high chignon behind a square-beaded tiara, centered by a ruyi-head.

Provenance: From an old private collection in West Yorkshire, United Kingdom, assembled during the 1970s and 1980s and thence by descent.
Condition: Good condition with some old wear and expected casting irregularities, minute nicks, few small fatigue cracks, and minor losses. The peg possibly later. The bronze has a solid, naturally grown dark chocolate-brown patina, neatly embellished with painted encrustations of malachite and cuprite.
