A RARE SANCAI GLAZED POTTERY JAR, TANG DYNASTY

Scientific Analysis Report: A thermoluminescence analysis report issued by Oxford Authentication on 4 January 2001, based on sample number C200j2, sets the firing date of one sample taken at between 800 and 1300 years ago. A copy of the report accompanies this lot.

China, 618-907. The compressed globular body rising from a short splayed foot to a tall waisted neck and cup-shaped mouth with an everted lip, liberally splashed with vibrant glazes of green, amber, and straw color, stopping irregularly at the foot, revealing the buff body.

Founded in 1995, Edward Pranger Oriental Art has established a global reputation for quality in the field of Asian art. Mr. Edward Pranger studied Chinese languages and culture at Leiden University, Netherlands, and Chinese Art History at the National Taiwan University.
